Back In The Saddle

While we are SO grateful for Levi's moose and such an exciting hunting season. We are also SO grateful to be back to our mundane chores list. This week, spend a busy day on the homestead with us! We have a danger tree to deal with, garlic to plant, and a cabin to wrap-up!

We finally BROKE our climbing rope! That rope has been to hell and back with us. It's pulled out trucks, 4 wheelers, pulled down trees, pulled Gus out of a hole in the ice. And we broke it.

But we finally got our dangerous driveway tree down before winter. Levi is quite excited about all of his new plowing space before snow falls and eventually we should be able to drive over the added space.

Also, I got my first fall garlic planted! I really hope it does well since it takes so long but I have never made the time until now to even try. I am going to be covering it in plastic before a big rain storm this weekend but I have hope that if it doesn't rot, it'll produce!

I showed a little film peek at my asparagus patch as well. I started them from seeds in 2023 so I should be able to harvest some next year! If you didn't know, asparagus takes a few years and even longer in cold climates before it grows shoots big enough to eat.

Hopefully next year we have garlic AND asparagus in abundance!

Bob also helped us get a head start on the cabin finish work. My folks are coming to stay soon and we need to warm the guest cabin up for them. I am sure they will appreciate their feet not freezing off on the floor. We are still waiting on the heater to show up but if it does, all should go to plan!

What's Coming Up?

Homestead, homestead, homestead! AND WINTER!

We don't have any solid plans between now and my folk's Fairbanks trip BUT we have plenty to do.

The current plan is simply to keep knocking things off the to-do list. You can most likely expect more outside work while the frost holds off, cabin work, and maybe snow!

We did buy the bathtub for the cabin! WOOOHOOO! So stay tuned for getting that up and running. It'll be a rustic set-up at first but it is a start.

We have gotten so many kind messages, emails, and comments lately.

My main goal with these emails has been to connect further with our viewers and grow a community. It certainly feels like we've done just that!

Thank you so much for being here!

Sincerely,

Becca

Shortly after we processed Bob's spike fork bull, the guys went back out on the boat for more hunting. This time, Levi wanted to wait for a wall-hanger. The freezer was full so it was the best time! October 2026 Newsletter Updates From The Homestead I want to do this monthly newsletter a bit differently.. You see, I go to type these newsletters up and struggle to remember everything I intended to fill you in on. A LOT happens here in a month. I also enjoy the monthly updates, I think weekly can be a little too much. Monthly emails give something to look forward to in my opinion. This month, I want to try and pop back into my email and update the story as time goes on. Like a date-stamped...
